Whether reviewing common questions received through the NAMAS Ask the Auditor form, questions received during our webinars, BootCamps, workshops, or during provider training and audit feedback sessions, two topics seem to always be on replay. These topics are the proper use of Modifier 25 and the ill-defined gray rules of prescription drug management. To help eliminate questions and to provide a resource that can be utilized within your organization, NAMAS has created a downloadable reference guide that includes both of these topics. For your convenience, the reference guide could be separated per topic as well.
Use this guide to ensure that your providers are utilizing and documenting both services correctly. This can also be done through an internal audit performed by your internal audit staff or by a third-party resource.
